Dalvay Hotel. When the National Park bought Dalvay in 1937, John Angus sold the 92 acres to the government for $23.00 an acre.

John Joseph, b. 26 Sept, 1912, m. 4 July, 1951 to Mary (Molly) Harrington of Morell. They have one dau. Rita and live in Ajax, Ontario.
Mary Cecelia, b. 28 Aug, 1913, d. 21 Oct., 1913.
Mary, b. 30 Aug, 1915, m. Irving MacKinnon, one dau. Catherine. Mary later In. Art Fennern and lives in California.
Georgina, b. 30 Aug., 1915, twin with Mary. Lives in Boston, Mass.
Rita Frances, b. 5 J an., 1917. Took her vows with the sisters of N otre Dame in Summerside in 1941. Her religious name was St. Catherine of Sweden; now she is called Sister Rita Martin. She taught school in Summerside.
Emmett Clare, b. 19 Aug., 1919, m. Mary Patricia McKenna (b. 7 Dec., 1920), dau. of John William McKenna and his wife Katherine M. Trainor of Kelly's Cross. They have seven children, see below.
John Angus Martin passed on his farm to his son Emmett; the
farm now consists of 145 acres. Emmett worked for the National Park asa park attendant for many years. His wife Mary taught school in Stanhope, Grand Tracadie, Marshfield, etc. The Martins began a riding stable in 1959; the children decided to sell rides on their horses to summer visitors to make themselves extra money. They made trails through the woods and fields, and acted as guides for the groups of riders using the woodland trails. In 1976, after seventeen years, they gave up the horse riding business.
Children of Emmett and Mary (McKenna) Martin
Katherine, b. 28 Mar., 1949. She has her Master's degree in Zoology and with the aid of a scholarship is studying for her Doctorate in Zoology. She is making a study of the habits of the ptarmigan in northern Canada. Kathy is the author of two books: Island Woodland Plants, and Watershed Red, which is about the Dunk River, in Prince County, P.E.I.
Eugene J., b. 12 Mar., 1950, d. 6 Dec., 1976. Kevin, b. 29 Apr., 1952. d. 29 Nov., 1980.
Donald, b. 31 Oct., 1955. Married in Feb., 1979 to Lynn Aylward, dau. of Louis and Marguerite Aylward of Covehead Road. They live in Halifax and have 1 dau.
Carly, b. 4 July, 1980.
Clare, b. 13 Nov., 1956, has a degree in Forestry and is presently teaching near Edmonton, Alberta.
Gerardine, b. 5 Oct., 1960. She is working in Calgary, Alberta.
Frances, b. 19 Apr., 1962. She is attending university and taking courses in Zoology.
MAYE Various members of the Maye family lived in Stanhope for fairly
short periods of time.
