In 1905 J ohn’s sons, Rupert and Will bought 62 acres of land on the Bayshore Road from Robert P. and Sarah E. Lank. Previous owners of this land had been, in order, Henry Curtis Lawson, William David Lawson, Charles Buxton, George Buxton, G. Herbert Kielly, mortgage sale to T.H. Haviland, whence the Lanks bought it. The 62 acres stretched from the Covehead Bay shore to the Gulf of St. Lawrence shore, and was bounded on the west by the property of John Arch and Edward MacLauchlan and on the east by that of John A. Kielly. At the time of purchase, the house and barn were in very poor condition, so in 1905 the brothers built a new house and barn, with the help of their father. Later, Rupert purchased the land and buildings from Will; the latter bought land now owned by Alvin MacLauchlan. Will’s father and mother lived there with him, as well as his brothers, Watson and George; the home having been built by John.
