in the south western US. At the time of his father’s death Stephen was living in Winona, Texas. He was killed in a train wreck in 1922.
Norman (1863-1923) married a Miss Keen in 1906. At the time of his father’s death Norman was living in Webb City, Missouri. Norman was burned to death in 1923 in a gas engine explosion.
Theodore William (1864-1869).
Frances Janet (1866~1904) was named for both grandmothers. She taught
school in Summerside and in 1888 she received her first class teacher’s license. In the report of the Annual Examination for teacher’s licenses
carried in the “Weekly Examiner”, June 17, 1888 she is credited with the highest mark of any of the female candidates. She was killed in 1904 in or near Eden, Colorado. She was drowned in a train wreck when a bridge collapsed and the passenger car plunged into the river.
Alice Ann (18681920) died in hospital in Texas.
Elias Alexander (1870-1901) was a member of a Missouri Company in the Spanish American War and died of yellow fever in Manila, in the Phillipines, in 1901.
ROGERS
Joseph Rogers (18404919) purchased the farm of Isaac Schurman in 1891 and he and his family moved to Wilmot Valley. Joseph was the son of Joseph and Margaret Rogers of North Bedeque. He married Rebecca Burrows (died April 23. 1868) on January 15. 1862. Rebecca was the daughter of Thomas and Sarah (Cochran) Burrows of New Annan. Joseph farmed and operated a blacksmith shop. He made iron gates which were well—made and very decorative. A reference is made to these gates in his son Wesley’s poems. During Wesley’s last visit to P.E.l. in 1957 he and a nephew searched everywhere for the gates, a pair of which were once at the North Bedeque home, but they could not be found. Joseph and Rebecca had the following family:
W.K. Rogers was brought up by this grandparents in New Annan. He married Margaret Sinclair and lived in Charlottetown. He was in the Insurance business and later formed W.K. Rogers Agencies.
Alice married Robert Clark and lived in Boston.
William James died Sept. 8, 1865, aged eleven months, in Summerside of dysentry.
Sophie Grace died May 16, 1867, aged eight months.
