Centennial Program

The Mission to mark the centennial of the present Church Structure' at St. Joachim’s, Vernon River, will take as its general theme: “Catholic Parish Life as inspired by Mary, daughter of Joachim and Anne, Mother of our Lord Jesus Christ.” The following is an outline of the subjects to be considered under this heading on the various evenings of the Mission:

Sunday, July 24: “The Angel of the Lord announced unto Mary” . . . the Catholic Parish Family seeks the holy will of God. '

Monday, July 25: “Mary arose with haste and went into the hill country” . . . the Parish service of neighbor flows from the prayerful experience of the Lord.

Tuesday, July 26 (Feast of St. Joachim): “Do Whatever He tells you”~ . . . The Abiding Place of our Lady in God's Plan of Salvation.

Wednesday, July 27: “Rather, Blessed are they who hear the Word of God” . . . the Parish Family listening, as the holy Virgin listened, to the saving Word of God.

Thursday, July 28: “Beneath the Cross there stood His Mother" . . . Why the Cross in Catholic Life?

Friday, July 29: “They were one in prayer, together with Mary” . . . Catholic Parish Life after the Resurrection.

At the official Centennial Mass on Sunday afternoon, July 31, the homily will have as its theme: “Catholic History is Eucharistic History.”
