CHRISTIAN BROTHERS BROTHER PRUDENT James MacDonald , son of Ronald F. MacDonald and Mary Fisher , was born in Orwell Cove on December 12, 1902 and baptized in St . Joachim's Church, Vernon River , on December 25, 1905. A sister and two brothers also embraced the religious life. He joined the Christian Brothers in 1916, and for the next four years followed high school training at De La Salle College, Ayrora, Ontario . He attended Toronto Normal School from 1920 to 1921, receiving his Teaching Certificate in the latter year. Brother Prudent holds three degrees: B.A ., University of Toronto, 1925; B.Paed ., University of Toronto, 1939; M.A . (English), University of Alberta, 1950. In the administrative field his appointments have been as follows: Director of the Scholasticate (young brothers completing their studies), 1936-1940 and 1951-1958; Provincial of the , 1941-1944. He served two terms as Rector of St . Joseph's College, University of Alberta, Edmonton, and is now retired at the O'Connor House in Don Mills , Toronto . (D BROTHER ALEXIS Gerard MacDonald , son of Ronald F. MacDonald and Mary Fisher , was born in Orwell Cove on February 12, 1905 and baptized in Vernon River Parish on March 1, 1905. While still a child he went to live with his aunt in . He graduated from College in 1926, and for several years, thereĀ¬ after, pursued farming operations at . In 1951, he joined the Redemptorists as a Lay Brother . Stationed at St . Alphonsus Church, Windsor, Ontario , Brother Alexis was engaged in secretarial and maintenance work.
