MacLean, representing the Federal Government, took place within the year. The railroad from Murray Harbour to Charlottetown passed though Bunbury , dividing almost every farm in two. Landowners were unhappy to have their farming operations disrupted, but had no recourse. Winter travel was difficult for trains all across the Island, and Bunbury was no exception. As one resident recalls, "different times the train would be stopped for a long time in front of our place where the woods started. There would be 18 to 20 men there shovelling snow." The rail line was abandoned in the early 1960's. While some farmers incorporated the abandoned rail land back into their farms, others left the railway embankments unaltered. The Bunbury train station was located near Fullerton's Marsh, where the rail line crossed . MILITARY SERVICE The following Bunbury men served in World War I: Vince Duffy Johnnie McCarron Wilfred Duffy Ray McCarron Russel Farquharson Arthur Mutch Allan Hamm Jim Patterson Charlie Hamm Chester Robertson Lome Kelly Everett Wood Several farm hands from the Jones Farm Fortunately, all returned.
