December 9, 1954: Mrs. Eleanor Horton reported on buying paints and brushes for school, and was moved and seconded
that she be paid $8. 78 for same.
January 13, 1955: Mrs. Horton gave a report on Science Kit and Globe for school, and it was moved and seconded that both be bought and that we ask the district to pay for half of science kit.
June, 1955 :
The Institute bought organ for school fr0m Mrs. John Farquharson, and paid $30.00 for same. Mrs. Farquharson to pay for repairs for organ and Institute to pay for tuning. Mrs. Kelly to contact Mr. Curran about repairing and tuning organ. School committee to buy moth crystals and place in organ for summer.
September, 1955: Mrs. Lea Morgan was engaged as music teacher for school. Music lessons to begin September 16’th.
The Bunbury Women’s Institute was discontinued in the early 1970’s.
At the December 3, 1974, meeting of the Bunbury Village Commissioners, "women’s role in the community; and feasibility of re—organizing W.I." was discussed. As a result of this discussion, several women in the community were contacted to help organizeawomen’s group. On March 15, 1975, the Bunbury Women’s League had their first meeting. The League’s main functions were to support the youth group leaders, and start a kindergarten. Bunbury Kindergarten opened on October 9, 1975.
