Honourable Alexander B. Campbell: Eighteen if he is worth it. Walter R. Shaw: Twenty-two thousand.

Honourable Alexander B. Campbell: But what about $400,000.00? Here are the records, Mr. Speaker, of professional fees paid to one man in a period of four years. I am sorry, since 1962, the sum of $400,000.00.

Robert E. Campbell: Oh no!

Honourable Alexander B. Campbell: He started out small time in 1962 and they gave him $1,000.00; in 1963, $1,900.00; rising in 1965 to ”8,0001”; in 1906 $142,000.00. Mr. Speaker.

Some Member: Who is that?

Honourable Alexander B. Campbell: For those who now criticize a man with equal education, equal professional qualifications who is earning $20000. They in turn paid one of their friends $400,000 since 1962.

Walter R. Shaw: Might I ask. . .

Honourable Alexander B. Campbell: I think that we had better re-examine this position.

Walter B. Shaw: Might I ask who the $182,000 was. Tell us.

Honourable Alexander B. Campbell: Ask what?

Walter R. Shaw: One hundred and eighty-two thousand.

Honourable Alexander B. Campbell: One hundred and forty-two.

Walter R. Shaw: Eighty-two, you said.

Honourable Alexander B. Campbell: One hundred and forty-two. Eighty-three the year before.

Walter R. Shaw: Well, we will cut $40,000 off. Who was the $142,000 man?

Honourable Alexander B. Campbell: It is all the same man, Sir. $400,000.00, altogether.

Walter R. Shaw: Who is it?

Honourable Alexander B. Campbell: Do you want me to table the records? Some Member: Yes.

Walter R. Shaw: Yea.

Honourable Alexander B. Campbell: This is Mr. Pickard.

Walter R. Shaw: Mr. Who?

Honourable Alexander B. Campbell: Mr. Pickard, Sir.

Walter R. Shaw: Who is Mr. Pickard?

Some Member: On a point of order, Mr. Speaker, are those architectural fees or a salary?

Honourable Alexander B. Campbell: And what about the architectural fees Mr. Speaker for this new building down here? Over $260,000.

Robert R. Campbell: Oh, dear, dear! Terrible!

Honourable Alexander B. Campbell: And they come in here criticizing a man who is making seven thousand dollars a year, or ten thousand dollars a year, or what have you. Mr. Speaker, I think that we want to have some re-examination of this,

but I think that as we. . . . _51_
