PHOTOS SPINNING WHEEL Nearly every home had a spinning wheel, where loose wool was changed into yarn. The sheep were shorn every spring, and the wool was washed and dried. It was then picked to remove the burrs before taking it to a carding mill, where it was made into rolls. The rolls were spun on the spinning wheel, twisting the fibers into a continuous strand to make yarn. This spinning wheel was used by Mary Maclsaac , many years ago.
