SAWING WOOD

Here, six men were sawing wood at the home of Peter and Michael McGaugh. The saw bench was powered by a stationary engine. The balance wheel kept the stationary engine up. They used a long belt for safety reasons, as a long belt would be farther away from the saw bench.

Today, a tractor replaces the stationary engine, to run the saw

bench.
