flattened farm iRahiu forum
The National Farm Radio Forum was organized in the winter of l940-4l. This was a weekly radio listening program, held on Monday nights. There were questions, of a national nature. that each group were supposed to answer and to send them to a central point. This National Farm Radio Forum proved to be one of the most important educational programs in the agricul- tural extension field.
To supplement the National Farm Radio Forum, local radio stations were used, prior to the national broadcast, and questions were drawn up to link community interests. This stimulated more community forums to be organized, more people took part, and neighbours could discuss local concerns and take steps to solve them. Group action was possible when it would not be possible when working as individuals.
Farm Radio Forum groups played a very worthwhile part in the work of the district Federation of Agriculture programs. It was found that, in areas where forums were active, these groups were active in the Federation, Women's Institutes, and they helped to provide leadership for the Junior Clubs, 4—H, etc. The National Farm Radio Forum reached its peak in the mid l950’s. With the development of TV toward the end of the decade, interest in National Farm Radio Forum fell. Provincial Federations of Agriculture tried to get CBC-TV to carry Farm Forum but they failed.
