^eologmns;, Mis&iamv&#f ana l^omen lUitgtou* of ^>tanlep prtbge Community Rev. Dr. FRANCIS W.P. BOLGER , CM. Father Francis W . P. Bolger is the son of Thomas and Margaret Walsh Bolger. He attended school in Stanley Bridge, and later Prince of Wales College, where he received his Teacher's Certificate. He taught for one year in New London and the following year entered St. Dunstan's University, from where he graduated in 1947. Later that same year he began his studies for the priesthood at the Grand Seminary, Montreal. Four years later he was ordained a priest at St. Ann 's Church, Hope River . He served first in the parish of St. Dunstan's before going to teach History at St. Dunstan's University. In 1954 he enrolled at the University of Toronto and received his MA and Ph.D in History in 1959. He returned to teach at University and later at the University of Prince Edward Island. As well he fulfilled his church duties when other priests were unavailable. He retired from the University of Prince Edward Island in 1994. Rev. Dr. Bolger was invested as a member of the Order of Canada , March 1, 1995, by the Governor - General of Canada , Romeo LeBlanc. SISTER KATHLEEN BOLGER Sister Kathleen Bolger is the daughter of Joseph and Mary Frances (McKenna) Bolger. Before entering Prince of Wales College, she attended schools in Stanley Bridge , St. Ann 's, and Convent. In 1950 she received her Teacher's License and began her novitiate with the Sisters of St. Martha. After profes¬ sion, she taught at a number of Island schools. Later Sister Kathleen was sent to teach at Mills, ON. During her teaching career, she continued her studies to improve her teaching qualifications. She completed her education with a BA & B. Ed from the University of Prince Edward Island, and a MA from Queens University. In 1975, she became Superior of . Mary's. She also took specialized training in Psychology and Human Relations and gave workshops on these sub¬ jects. Presently she is serving her second term as General Superior for the Sisters of St. Martha. 155
