MAJOR OLIVE HISCOTT Major Olive Hiscott was the daughter of Thomas Sr . and Frances Chalk Hiscott of Stanley Bridge . Olive joined the Salvation Army in 1929 and served in many areas of Canada . Her last posting was in New Aberdeen, Nova Scotia . Major Hiscott had spent more than a quarter of a Century working with the Salvation Army. The Nova Scotia Division refers to her as giving devot¬ ed and continuous service from 1929 to 1947 to the work of the Army. Major Hiscott died on June 17, 1947, shortly after her retirement. SISTER CATHERINE REID Sister Catherine Reid was the daughter of John and Bridget McGuigan Reid. She received her early educa¬ tion at Stanley Bridge and later attended Prince of Wales College where she received her teacher's license. She taught for four years in Island schools before entering the Congregation of Notre Dame in Montreal. After profession she taught school in Montreal, and for the next thirty years taught in schools in Charlottetown and Summerside . After retiring, she worked as a volunteer receptionist for the Catholic Family Services. She died at Notre Dame in Charlottetown in 1996. 158
