REV. DANIEL REID

Rev. Daniel B. Reid was the son of John and Margaret Kent Reid. He received his early education at Stanley Bridge and later studied at St. Dunstan’s College before entering the Grand Seminary of Quebec to study for the priesthood. After ordination in Montreal, he served at St. Dunstan’s Cathedral and later at Kelly’s Cross. Poor health forced him to retire to North Carolina where he died in 1904. He is buried in St. Ann’s ceme- tery, Hope River.

SISTER IDA REID

Sister Ida Reid was the daughter of John and Bridget McGuigan Reid. After attending Stanley Bridge School, she went to Prince of Wales College where she earned her teacher’s license. She taught four years before entering the Congregation of Notre Dame. After profession, she taught at St. Joseph’s Convent, Charlottetown for 34 years. For the next 18 years she acted as Superior in convents in Souris, Charlottetown and North Rustico. She returned to Notre Dame in 1968 and died there on March 23, 1986.
