McEWEN MacEWEN ARCHIBALD "BUDDY" b. Dec. 3, 1924 son of Herbert and Maud MacLeod MacEwen m. Sept. 26, 1953 - HELEN M. McRAE b. Sept. 14, 1931, daughter of Norman A. and Rita Mae (Carew) MacRae of Ebenezer , P.E.I. Helen received her Teacher's License in 1950 and taught for many years in Island schools. She retired in 1991. After many years in the mixed farming operation, Buddy sold his cattle and rented the farm land. The land is now used for growing potatoes and grain products. During the winter months the family lives in Kensington . For over thirty years, Buddy and Helen have been involved in the Tourism business. Their establishment is commonly known as LINDEN COVE . Buddy has also enjoyed many years as a dealer of antiques. A.S . "BUDDY" and HELEN MacRAE MacEWEN had a family of three children. 1. Lois Ruth (1954) 2. Margaret Ruth B.B.A . b. July 28, 1955 - m. May 29, 1993 Brian Simpson , Charlottetown . They have two children, Stephen Craig b. Nov. 7, 1994 and Heather Ashley b. Sept. 25, 1997. The family lives in Cornwall , Margaret works as an Administrative Assistant and Brian is a professional photographer. 3. Leith Stewart b. Nov. 4, 1958 - m. June 29, 1985 - Susan Jayne Bround, Chatham, Ont. They have one son, Andrew Stewart b. Mar. 29, 1992. The family resides in Chatham, Ont. Leith is Superintendent of the Lafarge Canada plant. Susan works with the Duffle Bag Sports Store, in Chatham, Ont. CANN One person who worked for many years in Stanley Bridge was J. WILFRED CANN . He was the son of Russell and Margaret (Currie) Cann of . His life evolved around the farm and fishing industries. Wilfred's mother died when he was six years of age. He then lived with his Aunt and Uncle , Belle and Jim Cooke of Graham's Road, until he was old enough to engage in working on his own. For nearly fourteen years he lived in Stanley Bridge with Herb and Maud and later Buddy and Helen MacEwen . In the spring of the year he loved to participate in the lobster fishing business and worked with fishermen who sailed out from the Stanley and New London wharves. At the conclusion of the lobster fishing season, he went back to farming. His health failed early in his life. He spent his last two years at the River View Nursing Home in New Glasgow , Wilfred was unmarried. A half-sister, Catherine, and half-brother, Elwood, predeceased him.
