FYFE FIFE

[9.] ROBERT SHAW (1831/32 - July 25, 1906) son of William and Jean Arthur Fyfe,

m. Aug. 6, 1867 to ANNE [ANNIE] MacINTOSH (1840? - Mar. 22, 1908), daughter of John and Christy Belle McDonald McIntosh, of Springton.

Robert and Annie built a new home on their property which was close to the present site of K. R. and Audrey MacKay’s home. This portion of land was the 75 acres which Robert received from his father’s estate. Robert worked as a carpenter joiner, as well as a farmer. He learned many of his skills working on boatbuilding at the shipyards in the area. Robert and Annie Fyfe

had eleven children

1. JOHN WILLIAM MILLER (May 22, 1868 - May 12, 1952) Miller was unmarried. He became the owner of the Robert S. Fyfe homestead. In

later years this land was sub-divided. Its location along the highway made it a very desirable land on which to build. Miller looked after his mother and two sisters until they married.

Crippled by arthritis in later years, and as an aid to get around, he purchased a Model T. Ford. Miller and his dog could daily be seen going in the car to take the cows to the barn from the field or put them out to pasture. All the men liked to gather at Miller’s on Saturday night for fun and conversation.

When Miller retired from farming the land was sold to Elmer Fyfe. Elmer’s family eventually moved to the West side of the river. {see A.E.L. Fyfe Genealogy}
