SAMUEL (1841-MAY 31, 1906)

son of William and Jane Brown, formerly of New Glasgow, m. July 7, 1868 Mary Jane Simpson (1847-1929) daughter of John and Barbara (Woodside) Simpson. They lived to the west of the present bridge. {see Brown Stores}

They had six children

1. Stanley (1867—1927) 2. Laura(1869-l965)

3. William (1873-1952) 4. Howard (1875—1935) 5. Brenton( 1881— 1944) 6. Ella B. (1883-1965)

ALEXANDER (l850— 1933)

brother of Samuel, was in business with him. The two families lived in a large home which was purchased by J.C. Clark. He hauled the house via ice to BayView. Part of it was used for the store business. The other part was sold to Walter Reid and moved again, via ice, to his property on the Hope River Road. The Brown property was sold to Dr. J.E. Fleming. Here he built a new home for his family and his Medical practice, Today this property is owned by Robert and Phyllis Carr.

Alexander was twice married 1. Nellie Malone (1853—1888) 2. Esther Thomson (1892—1971)

Three children, namely:

1. Elizabeth (1880—1896) 2. Nellie(1888—l969) 3. Harold(1892—l984)

Both Brown families moved to Vancouver, British Columbia, about 1898. Members of these families stayed in this area. None returned to take up residence on Prince Edward Island.
