John and Mary Jane Proctor had a family of 11 who proved to be industrious men and women. 1. Theresa (1875—1920) married John Keleher of Boston. They had three children: 1. John 2. Leaming 3. Selena

2. Leo ( 1877-1932) married Gwendlyn (Linah) Christopher of Tignish, PEI. Leo’s profession was a butter and cheese—maker in Stanley Bridge and Tignish. He was killed while shovelling snow in a tragic train accident in the Tignish area in 1932. They had seven children:

3. Mary Ellen “Nell” (1878-1964) married William Sullivan, Wakefield, Massachusetts. They had one daughter, Katherine Proctor Sullivan.

4. Emmett (1880-1916) was a butter and cheese-maker in Stanley Bridge and Calgary. Emmett did not marry. On April 24, 1916, he joined the Armed Forces and was killed in France in World War I, only six months after entering the service.

5. Learning (1881-1947) married Mae Carr. He was a school teacher, and taught in Grahams Road, Millvale and Stanley Bridge. He later settled in Millvale as a farmer. He took over his uncle Peter Murphy’s and aunt Mary Ellen Carr’s farm. He and Mae had eight children:

6. Mae (1882—1966) married J. Wilbert Cahill of Kildare. They farmed in Kildare. They had three children: 1. Lillian 2. Evelyn 3. Teresa

7. Austin (1884-1956) married Laura Hogan of Hope River. Austin was a butter and Cheese- maker in Calgary, Kensington, and for many years in Stanley Bridge. He and Laura ran a hotel
