McNEILL MacNEILL Dr. RODERICK McNEILL (Feb. 20, 1841-Oct.. 17, 1922) In. July 5, 1869 to
AMELIA ANN McKlE (1848-1926), daughter of John F. and Janet McKie, French River. They built a home west of the bridge “at the top of the hill". This home burned in the mid—1920’s. It was rebuilt by Austin and his wife, Annie. The house was used by members of the MacNeill family for many years until purchased by “Joe” Schurman, formerly of Summerside, who remodeled and added to its size.
The MacNeill family owned a number of properties in Stanley Bridge. The largest section was the Fyfe property, which was located across the road from their home. In 1889, Dr. MacNeill purchased this land from Dorothy Davy Fyfe — widow of William Fyfe II. It was later sold to Frank and Annie Bell. Gordon and Marion Fyfe pur- chased this parcel from the Bell family in 1960, thus returning the first Fyfe holdings to the original name.
