McNEILL MacNEILL Dr. RODERICK McNEILL (Feb. 20, 1841-Oct.. 17, 1922) m. July 5, 1869 to AMELIA ANN McKlE (1848-1926), daughter of John F . and Janet McKie , French River . They built a home west of the bridge "at the top of the hill". This home burned in the mid-1920's. It was rebuilt by Austin and his wife, Annie. The house was used by members of the MacNeill family for many years until purchased by "Joe" Schurman, formerly of Summerside , who remodeled and added to its size. The MacNeill family owned a number of properties in Stanley Bridge . The largest section was the Fyfe property, which was located across the road from their home. In 1889, Dr. MacNeill purchased this land from Dorothy Davy Fyfe - widow of William Fyfe II . It was later sold to Frank and Annie Bell. Gordon and Marion Fyfe purĀ¬ chased this parcel from the Bell family in 1960, thus returning the first Fyfe holdings to the original name. Dr. RODERICK and AMELIA had a family of six children. 1. Infant daughter (July 29, 1870) 2. Austin (1871-1926) resided on the homestead 3. Everett Murray moved to Denver, Colorado 4. Alfred Edgar "Fred" (1878-1965) worked for the Bank of Nova Scotia - not married 5. Alvin E. Hodge died when studying to become a Medical Doctor 6. Daniel A. (1884-1977) Dan was an employee of C.P.R . telegraph lines in Ontario . He married Bessie N. Daniels (1890-1956) - None of his family lived in Stanley Bridge 7. Jennie 8.
