AUSTIN WALSH AND MARY LECLAIR GENEALOGY

AUSTIN JAMES WALSH was born on October 23, 1881. Austin, a harness maker like his father, married MARY ANGELINE LeCLAIR who was born in Mayfield, on March 15, 1889, the daughter of Joseph LeClair and Veronique Martin. They were married in the Roman Catholic Immaculate Conception Cathedral, Saint John, New Brunswick on May 21, 1912.

Austin apprenticed in the harness making trade with his father in Stanley Bridge and worked at this profession in Saint John, New Brunswick, and Summerside, Prince Edward Island.

After his father’s death in May, 1922, Austin took over the harness shop in Stanley Bridge and operated it until 1940. He and his family lived in a home situated on the road leading from Stanley Bridge to New London close to the boundary between the two communities. He then moved to Charlottetown and worked at his trade in the firm of Hardy Brothers until his death in September, 1951. Mary died in Charlottetown on July 12, 1953. They are buried in the Roman Catholic Cemetery, St. Peter’s Road, Charlottetown.

AUSTIN and MARY LeCLAIR WALSH had a family of four children

1. Francis Arthur Walsh (Jan. 4, 1912 — Apr. 20, 1979) in. May 24, 1939 in St. Ann’s Church, Hope River to Mary Cornelia Murphy b. Dec. 5, 1915 daughter of Frank and Agatha Fleming Murphy. Arthur, after service in the army in World War II, worked with Canadian National Railways, until his retirement.

Arthur and Mary had a family of five children:

1. Claudia Marion b. Apr. 24, 1940 m. Nov. 6, 1965 to J. Richard Saunders in St.

Dunstan’s Basilica, Charlottetown. They have one son Stephen. He married Nancy Loretta MacKenzie on July 13,

1990 at St. Joachim’s, Vernon River 2. James Urban (Aug. 15, 1943 - Mar. 22, 1969) did not marry. He lived in

Charlottetown. Gail Frances b. Oct. 11, 1946 m. May 22, 1971 to Alexander L. Kollee at Holy

Redeemer Church, Charlottetown. They have two children: 1. Dawn Marie 2. Michael James 4. Rita Patricia b. June 16, 1951 m. Sept. 7, 1974 Reginald M. MacDonald at St. Bridget’s Church, Foxley River, Patricia and Reginald have one son Tyler Scott. 5. Richard Ivan b. July 24, 1953 m. Oct. 17, 1977 to Cheryl Waite and they have

one son, Christopher Corey.
