BOWNESS ROBERT and ROSALEE BOWNESS moved from Kensington , to the They purchased the K.R. MacKay Store in 1977 and operated it for three years. They sold the busi¬ ness to Helen Waite of Kensington . Rosalee now works at the Bank of Nova Scotia, Kensington and Robert is district manager for the Maritimes for the Diversy Lever Company. The family lives in Kensington in the home formerly owned by Robert's father, Walter Bowness . Robert and Rosalee have a family of six: 1. Wade [ Ontario ] 2. Corinne R.N . [ Ontario ] 3. Todd [ New Brunswick ] 4. Tara [ Summerside ] 5. Robbie [University] 6. Mary [University] OTHER STORE OWNERS Helen Waite purchased the store from Robert and Rosalee Bowness and operated it for two years. When Stanley and Sharon Coles and family returned to Prince Edward Island from Ontario in 1981, they purchased the store and re-named it the Village Grocery Store. They lived in the apartment above the store and operated the business for nine years. For the next few years it was operated by Kim Homer and Stewart MacFarlane. The next owners from 1991 to 1994 were Christopher and Brenda Bushell. The store remained closed until it was reopened by Lome Larkin of New Glasgow in 1996, under the name " Convenience Store". These antique items could have been purchased at any of the local General Stores. 317
