STANLEY COLES Sr. (1914-1983) In. Nov. 20, 1953 PANSY ADAMS b. Jan.17, 1918 daughter of Margaret Bernard - Adams and step-daughter of William Gunn, who lived across the road from the present hall. Stanley was a veteran of World War II. After returning home he operated a Service Station on land close to his home. He purchased this land on Oct. ’27, 1956, from William MacKenzie. It was later sold to Philip Gallant.
With the trend toward the larger mechanical machines his station was not suitable for taking care of the growing demands. He decided to open the new Coles’ White Rose Service Station ‘at the corner’. The Shell Service Station has since taken over this site. In 1960, Stanley and Pansy made plans to move to her parents’ home which was located next to the service station. A few days before they were to move into the house it burned.
{It was known as the Arthur MacEwen home and had been moved to the site from the Campbellton Road} Although this was discouraging, Stanley and Pansy built a new home on the same site and their son, Stanley Jr. and his family live there today.
STANLEY and PANSY had two children.
