WARREN
The Warren Family lived close to the bank of the river on the Eastern side. After the family left to take up residence in Revere, Mass, the house was moved to the opposite side of the road where it was occupied by Thomas Hiscott Sr. and his family. Their son, Albert Hiscott, later moved the house to the Pickering property. The house is still on the same site and occupied by the Wygant family.
The first Warren name to appear in the Stanley Bridge Directory was George. George was a Ship Captain and apparently took his family to Prince Edward Island aboard his own vessel. Some of the vessels he owned are listed in the ship register. In 1826, one ship which was like— ly built in Stanley was the Mary Ann. His wife’s name was Elizabeth Murchland. A son, James, was born and grew up in Stanley Bridge. The first record of land ownership for a ‘plot of land in Stanley Bridge’ is dated Dec. 22, 1877. James Warren purchased the land from
Dougald Henry.
JAMES WARREN (1851 - Apr. 13, 1926) m. on Sept. 2, 1872 to HANNAH WEDLOCK (May 22, 1856-July 18, 1919), sister of John Wedlock, who owned a store at ‘Wedlock’s Corner’ on the New London Road, Route 224. Presumably the Warren family was involved in trading by using the waterways. James was also a mail driver between the Stanley Bridge and Breadalbane Post Offices. He was also a carpenter by trade. James and Hannah had a family of eleven children. All were born in Stanley Bridge. In later years the family moved to Mass. USA. Their home was sold to Thomas Hiscott, Sr. and moved across the road close to the bank
of the river. 1. ,[AMES EDWARD (Sept. 29, 1872 — 1926) died in Revere, Mass, USA, he was a
