ROSS

Donald and Mary Ross of Tain, near Inverness, RossShire, Scotland, had at least five children Daniel Angus Duncan Alfred and Grace

Three of these children evidently left their homeland and eventually arrived in Stanley Bridge,

PEI.

ANGUS ROSS was a Presbyterian minister and lived on Prince Edward Island. There is no information on whether or not he was married.

One landowner in whom we have considerable interest is DUNCAN ROSS (1810 July 12, 1897) son of Donald and Mary Ross of Tain, Scotland. Duncan left home at an early age and worked in the West Indies before moving to Prince Edward Island‘ After his arrival, he taught school by travelling around the Province and staying with various families and teaching in the homes. This paid his board. There were no official school buildings. The first recorded prop— erty holding is the deed known as #212. This is dated Mar. 25, 1840 and states that Duncan Ross

purchased 35 acres of land from L. Sullivan in the community of Stanley Bridge. His son, Daniel also accumulated considerable wealth and purchased various parcels of land within the

area.

The above acreage and the accompanying house and farm buildings were situated immediately to the north west of the A.EiL. Fyfe property. The Ross buildings and land were later purchased

by A.E.L. Fyfe. 350
