THOMAS PICKERING, (1790-1868) was the third son of William I and Janet Anderson Pickering. Thomas Pickering married his first cousin, Mary Marks, a sister of his brother, James’s wife. They lived at New London Ponds {Sea View}, on the farm currently occupied by their great—grandson, Roland Pickering. Although a successful farmer, Thomas was as involved as his brothers with shipbuilding. In the shipping records of this time, Thomas was listed as a mariner. He was most often a partner of his brothers, James and/or William.

Two vessels Thomas was co—owner of were: 1, Mary 48 T. schooner; and Two Brothers - 113 T. schooner. It seems this was not enough to keep Thomas busy though, as he also operated a grist mill. Thomas and Mary are buried in Yankee Hill Cemetery, French River. They had a family of eleven children: Jane, Margaret, Ann, James, William IV, Anthony David, Rebecca, Mary, Thomas, Helen Catherine and Robert.

ALBERT was the son of Thomas and Frances Hiscott, Sr. {refer to Thomas Sr. Village East} Albert hauled the Thomas and Frances Hiscott house and barn from Stanley village to the East side of the Anderson bridge. This was formerly part of the William Pickering proper- ty. Albert sold the small house on the property to Edward and Clara Gallant, who, in turn, moved it on the ice to the Miller Fyfe property at the end of the Campbellton Road. The Gallants later sold this house to Nelson and Fannie Roberts, Clifton. Albert Hiscott acquired ownership of the Thomas Hiscott holdings on October 6, 1936. The Hiscott property was sold to Matthias Malone. The Warren/Hiscott home is today the home of Robert and Bette

Wygant.
