MacEwen BLOIS (Mar. 15, 1924 - Mar.6, 1996) son of Lome and Jean Johnson MacEwen m. Oct. 29, 1947 to IRENE PICKERING (July 21, 1921 - 1994) daughter of Ernest and Edna Bertram Pickering , Clinton. After World War II, Blois and Irene bought the 112 acre Anderson property, which borders on Anderson's Creek, from Johnny Gillis . He had purchased the property in 1938. Blois and Irene MacEwen farmed here until October, 1992, when they retired to Kensington . Blois worked for a few summers at the Cavendish National Park, and later at the Provincial Sanitarium. Irene participated in all community activities. She was actively involved in tourism and was the first secretary of the New London Tourist Association. Irene and Blois enjoyed the company and remained in touch with the many visitors who stayed at their Bed & Breakfast Creekside Tourist Home. James Anderson home. Windows replaced by Blois and Irene MacEwen. Now occupied by George and Opal MacEwen and family. They had two sons: I.ERNEST LORNE b. July 17, 1948 m. Oct. 6, 1968 to PAULINE BLANCHE JOYCE HILL b. Oct. 4, 1944 div. in 1995, of Mayfield . They bought and farmed Ernest's grandfather's farm (Lome and Jean MacEwen) in . They purchased this land from John and Isabel Picketts in 1969. The Joe Bolger property was purchased in 1976. They have one son who attends school in Kensington . 1. Scott Lome b. Apr. 1, 1982 (see Road) 2. GEORGE BLOIS b. Dec. 18, 1957 m. June 23, 1979 to OPAL ADELE SMITH b. Mar. 1, 1957, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Smith . They took over the farming operation from Blois and Irene in 1977. They have three children: 1. Mark Ernest b. Mar. 26, 1981 2. Donald Blair b. May 24, 1984 3. Vera Feme b. Apr. 10, 1986 CAMPBELL Maida Campbell Bean b. Oct. 4, 1960. Maida lives on the George MacEwen property on Route 6. She is a heavy equipment operator and has one daughter, Cailyn Bean b. 1991. 474
