May 2, 1927, Patriot: “Capt. E. Dicks is getting his schooner, Nellie J. Banks , which was tied up for the winter at King’s Wharf, ready for the opening of navigation.”

July 15, 1927, Patriot: The Young Adams Company play at the Town Hall for three nights.

July 28, 1927, Patriot: Frank Solomon puts up a new barber shop finished in Douglas fir. It includes two chairs (both Stella and he now barber) all the latest electric equipment and features a public bath with scrupulously clean

towels.

Aug. 13, 1927, Patriot: G.H.S. staff 1927-8 are Marion Douglas; Joseph Kiggins, Miss Larkin, Isabel Morrisey, Emma McCormack.

Fall, 1927, Patriot: With the construction of the new f rost-free potato warehouse on the Railway Wharf, everyone is getting into the certified seed potato business. E. B. McLaren of the Potato Growers Association is a main promoter in Georgetown.

Oct. 19, 1927, Guardian: Scobie Johnson is to succeed Allister Stewart as keeper of the Georgetown jail.

Jan. 1928, Patriot: George Yorston has replaced Anthony Boudreault as mail carrier on Rural Route 1. On April 10/28 Patriot reports that “the genial mail carrier on R.R.1 is always on time whether the roads are bad or not.”

Apr. 10, 1928, Patriot: Georgetown ladies are matrons of the three general hospitals in P.E.I.: Sister Apollo (Eileen McPhee) at the Charlottetown Hospital; Miss Florence Lavers at the Prince County Hospital and Miss Anna Mair at the P. E. 1. Hospital.
