50 years, leaving home at the age of 16, sailing to all parts of the world. He was born at Burnt Point, the 3rd son of the late James Hemphill, who had immigrated from Ireland and took his abode in Burnt Point then covered with woods. The late Mr. Hemphill leaves to mourn ten children including five sons: Milton in Pictou, Guy, Ivan. Hammond and Loren at home, and five daughters, Alice, Carrie, Mrs. Allister Stewart Mrs. Victor Rafuse and Mrs. George Whiteall of Georgetown. He was a native of West River, P.E.I., and mine to Georgetown as a blockmaker to work in the shipbuilding industry and in other woodworking. He moved to Duluth, Minn, with his family but returned to P.E.I. in 1913 after the death of his wife to live with his daughter. He belonged to the St. George’s Masonic Lodge.
