Jan.4, 1884) (The following were omitted accidentally from Vol. 1.) D. Hon . Roderick MacAulay died Jan. 6, ,1882, aged 92, leaving a son, George. MacAulay's wife was Susan Jane Hadley . He was born in the Island of Lewis, Scotland , and came to Nova Scotia , then P.E. I, as a minister of the Church of Scotland. He served among other places in Georgetown where he helped to establish St. David's Church. After his marriage he gave up the ministry and became a farmer in the Georgetown Royalty ; then entered Island politics and served a number of years in the House of Assembly. For a time he was Speaker of the House,. His obituary in Patriot. Jan. 14, 1880 (copied from The King's County Advertiser) says of him: "He was anti-confederate. . ., an ultra conservative, a strict party man. He believed in class prerogative.. . modest and retiring.. . a gentleman of rare conversational powers and mental culture." D. At Georgetown , the 17th ult., after a long and painful illness, borne with patience and resignation to the Divine Will, Dr. J. C. McKeown , aged 84 years, much and deservedly regretted."
