Relay races was a popular sport carried out with teams, from as far away as Charlottetown. Tignish in those competitions were represented by such famous runners as Henry Gallant, Emmett Gallant, Peter Arsenault, Reggie and Gregory Mclnnis, William Nelligan, Gordon Villard, Francis Nelligan, Joseph E Gallant, Leo Conroy, Roland and Clarence Shea. Another much talked about runner was Frank Clohossey. Joining in was the famous long distant runner, Barney Francis of Lennox Island. Joe Morrissey

was always there to spur the boys on. Ralph Hackett was reported one of the most exciting hockey

players around. He played semi-pro hockey with the famous team of his day the ”Millionaires.” Another smooth skater and excellent stick-handler was said to be Reggie Mclnnis. He moved to New York in 1930. Reggie’s brother Gregory, who lived in Anglo Tignish, played in those days as defenseman. He later

went to Souris and played with a team there for several years. Another local boy who played in Souris was Alphonce Richard.
