Diversity in business, industry, and levels of education is another factor which should be mentioned briefly. It may not be as essential to survival as co— operation and independence, but it helps greatly by providing more community resources, making the latter less dependent. Diversifying may also be one way in which communities which have lost their independence could eventually regain it. In short, the nearest 1 can come to a formula is the following: Survival and Distance encourage Independence and Unity, which, in turn, leads to Co—operation, all of this being grounded on one or more renewable Resources and both supported by and supportive of Diversity. If this simple analysis can help even one community regenerate itself or encourage a few isolated people to help this happen, then I shall be satisfied that what l have tried to do in this book has been done.
