THE LAND

The good farmer is an artificer;

He creates with soil and seed;

He cooperates with sun and rain.

The good farmer s wise:

God is in his heart;

He puts divinity into things.

He and God share in the eye of the potato; Their hands touch in the maple branches; They rejoice in the birth of the litter;

They mow hay and mendfences together. The goodfarmer is in His image.
