From roughly 1962-1967, the team from St. Peters , classed as a "heavyweight team,"* went to Halifax to pull in the Maritime finals against Red Point . They never won the first place $500 prize, and had to always settle for the second place $200 prize. A member of this team, Robert Rossiter , recalled the last trip the Bay team went to Halifax in 1967: A team from Gasperaux,* gave us the hardest pull of our lives. There were seven men by the name of "Davidson" on that team. Our final year at Halifax we pulled against them and won setting a Maritime record for the length of the pull at 14 minutes and 27 seconds in a 15-minute time limit. The following night we pulled against Red Point in the finals, with this pull lasting 12 minutes and 29 seconds. After losing to Red Point that night for the fifth year in a row, we never went back.
