As the population increased, a bigger church was needed. In the early 1880s, a bigger and more modern church was built at St. Peters . Begun in 1881, it took five years to complete and was finished in 1886. Although it was not completed until 1886, the church opened in 1881 with its interior still not finished. Its colors were white and gold, and it was of the Gothic design. It is said that this church possessed a magnificent antique solid silver chalice that was once used by Bishop McEachern in St. Andrews . (45) ■ The St. Peters Bay Catholic Church.
