A lot of the statues, the alter, pews, and paintings were saved" The two big pictures that are at the front of the present church were saved from the fire, and Hilda Lewis recalled that the pictures, which had originally come from Rome, were sent to Quebec City to be repaired. The tops of the pictures were cut and rounded to fit the style of the new church. (49)
