The Millar family lived first at a place on the Brackley Point Road from May to September 1851. A daughter Margaret married James Matheson Of Brackley and settled there. The Millars then moved to North Bedeque and lived there until 1855 when they moved to Wilmot Creek where Alexander had bought a farm. In 1860, while building the Barclay flour mill, he obtained land in Bideford on the north bank of Trout River in Lot I3, previously occupied by Cornelius (Neil) McArthur. He sold the farm at Wilmot Creek to the previous owner, brought a team of horses and a PIOUgh to Bideford and ploughed quite a number of acres in the fall of 1860. His family moved to Bideford in April 1861. Alexander and his descendants purchased more land as time went on, extending into Lot 12, the farm gradually increasing to 240 acres.
