The youngest son of Peter and Margaret Millar, Gordon Stanley enlisted in the Royal Flying Corps on April 23, 1917. He was transferred to the Royal Air Force on April 1, 1918 and his trade was FITTER (Engine). He miraculously escaped when a small plane he was in crashed—his most seri— ous injury being a broken ankle. Following that he was assigned duty in Texas, training soldiers. On his Certificate of Discharge dated January 9, 1919 was stated: Character Very . . .
