He was agent for the Massey—Harris Harvester Company, a magistrate for Prince County, and a commissioner for the taking of affi- davits. In 1887, W.B. Hayes married Perezza Frost (1867—1939). They had four children: Mabel, Ella, Fred and Claude.

W.B.’s sister, Maud Hayes, born in 1878, was a graduate of Prince of Wales College and the MacDonald Institute, Guelph, Ontario. She was Vice- Principal of the High School at Summerside and Principal of the High School at Montague.
W.B.’s brother, R. Clifford Hayes (1885—1951) married Elsie Catherine Williams (1887—1978). They lived in the Hayes home in Bideford for a short time, then moved to Tyne Valley. They had six children: Roy, William (Bill), Myrtle, Horace, Roberta, and Edgar.
Russell Clark Hayes (1873—1953) son of Robert and Jane (cousin of W.B.), married Lutie Williams (1874—1963). They had three sons: Elmer
