Nicholson married Robert Millar and Pauline Linkletter there on Wednesday, June 30, 1937. Wednesday continued to be the usual day to be married. It was sometimes jokingly referred to as WEDDINGS DAY. Most marriages were plain and simple, performed at a manse or parson- age. For a number of years, stores were closed on Wednesday afternoons and remained open on Saturdays until 10 RM.

The house was used as a parsonage/manse until 1975, when a new manse was built on an adjoining lot and dedicated for the use of the Bideford United Pastoral Charge. The old parsonage was then sold to Leon and Gertrude Ensalata for use as their private residence.

In 1964 the members of Bideford Pastoral Charge purchased a building in Ellerslie that had formerly been a Co-op store. It was completely ren— OVated, and used as a Christian Education Center for many years. It was S01d in 1995 to Noye Brothers, a construction company.
