^ v::-< ■ ■ Author, Pauline A. Millar , is a life long resident of this area, born in Northam , a daughter of Ivan and Jennie (nee Leard) Linkletter . In 1937 she married Robert Millar of Bideford , a son of Shrieve and Priscilla (nee Williams) Millar and since then, she has lived in Bideford . She has researched and recorded a history of Bideford as a Women's Institute Project. She researched and wrote the history of the family for the book entitled An Island Refuge, published in 1983 by the Abegweit Branch of the United Empire Loyalist Association of Canada. She researched and compiled the history of Stewart Memorial Hospital Auxiliary in observance of their 50TH Anniversary. She continues to update the genealogy of several family lines. This story is an attempt to record information of interest from earlier times leading up to the present, especially in regard to Bideford and surrounding communities. The information has been obtained from various archives, family records, newspaper clippings and from local residents.
