had seven children. He had full-time employment but it was not a high paying job. When he left the Island to improve his circumstances, he owed a very large bill. I was not aware of the bill or under what conditions he left. Several years later, I met him at a meeting I was attending in another province. He was very glad to see me and asked me about the family and if my parents were still living. When I told him they were not, he related to me how my dad wished him the best when he left and told him not to worry about the bill until he got settled and was in a position to make payments. He said that he would never have been able to make it without dad's help. He sent $50.00

a month over several years until the bill was paid.

When I hear these stories and reflect on the past, I realize that my parents not only had good business sense, but they also had big hearts.
