Stephanie L W. MacDonald Kinlock Prince Edward Island

Stephanie was born on April, 1930, the fourth of seven children of Agnes Flynn and William Archibald MacDonald. She attended Prince of Wales Model School, Rustico Convent and passed the Provincial Entrance Exams when she was thirteen years of age. While she was at Rustico she and two other students led a successful strike against activities they felt were intolerable there. She completed pre-med. at Prince of Wales College in 1948 and studied for a year in lab technology courses before entering St. Dunstan’s. She graduated from St. Dunstan’s with a B. So. in 1951.

While at Prince of Wales College Stephanie was a star basketball player and began a badminton club. At St. Dunstan’s there was no program for women so she was unable to continue playing basketball.

Stephanie’s first paid employment was with Woolworth’s store when she was 14 years of age. She began to manage children’s group activities in local parks and continued doing so while she attended PWC. This experience led to some ground breaking programs for the Canadian Army while Stephanie was living in Germany later on.

Stephanie continued her studies as Laboratory Technician following her graduation from SDU and worked in this field in Moncton, Montreal Charlottetown,
