In 1989, during Rev. Mr. Vancook’s ministry, Jane Dunn was engaged by the church administration to fill a new position, Leadership Support. In 1997 Jane’s title became Christian Development Leader, a position she continues to hold today. Part of Jane’s workload also includes serving as Sunday School Superintend- ent. In 1992 Shelly Fortier was employed part-time to develop programs and to work with the youth of the church. Financial support for Shelly’s position was pro- vided by the Mission and Outreach Committee of the church. In 1995 she obtained a full-time teaching po— sition elsewhere and her role in Youth Ministry was assumed by Susan Naylor. Susan currently fills the position. Under Susan’s leadership the Youth Ministry participates in Bible study, devotions, games, crafts, and gym nights, in addition to other on—going activi— ties.
In 1990 Summerside Presbyterian Church received a generous legacy from the estate of Margaret, Al- berta, Martha, and Enid MacFarlane, daughters of Nathan and Martha MacFarlane. The Board of manag- ers and Session recommended the establishment of a form of trust fund to administer the bequest. The Board appointed three administrators to oversee the invest- ment of the funds. It was decided that half the interest from the investment would be used by the Board of Managers for capital expenditures. The remainder was to be used by the Mission and Outreach Committee for mission work.
In appreciation, and to commemorate the MacFarlane bequest, on Sunday, Oct. 17, 1993 Rev. Bert Vancook, representing the congregation, dedicated
