Presbyterianism in Summerside 1853—2003 The Commemorative MacFarIane Mural dedicated at Summerside Presbyterian Church, Oct. 17, 1993 a memorial plaque and fabric wall hanging (located over the interior main entrance to the sanctuary) to the MacFarIane Family. The drawing for the wall hang- ing was executed by Daphne Irving and Ann Blair White completed the handcraft work. The beautiful design and artwork were meant to portray Summerside and its industries and the MacFarIane Family interests. The lives of the members of the MacFarIane Family are rep— resented by the accompanying scripture verse and are illustrated in the colours, texture, and images on the wall hanging. Change, wisely executed, leads to progress. There were several policy and physical changes in Rev. Mr. Vancook’s time at Summerside Presbyterian Church. Two of the policy changes were significant - Holy Com- munion and term eldership. The first significant policy change, involving Holy Communion, was instituted in 1993.
