In 1998, after a ministry of thirteen years duration at Summerside Presbyterian Church, Rev. Bert Vancook accepted a call to St. Andrew’s Church, Thunder Bay, Ontario. He and his wife, Mary, and their children had won the hearts of the congregation. Their departure was bittersweet: the congregation was sorry to see them leave, and yet everyone was happy for them as they embarked upon new challenges. The pulpit at Summerside Presbyterian Church was declared vacant in 1998 upon Rev. Mr. Vancook’s de- parture. Rev. Christine Schulze, from Richmond Bay PastoralCharge, was appointed , as Interim Moderator. Rev. Susan Lawson acted as Sup- ply Minister until a replacement for Rev. Mr. Vancook could be found. A church Search Com- mittee worked for several months before extending a call to Rev. Harry Currie who was inducted in 1999. In 2000 Rev.
