Alexander McLaughlan (5.Janet 2, 1.John 1) b. Jan. 15, 1829, occupation Shoemaker; m. Barbara Fergusson, b. March 22, 1832 (daughter of John (Hillside) Fergusson and Barbara Proudfoot) d. March 17, 1881. Alexander died Dec. 12 1892. Both bur. in Marshfield Comm. Cem. Alex lived across the road from the Marshfield School. To get to his shop, it was necessary to pass through the kitchen and Barbara always made the school boys welcome. She was not of robust nature and mixed mainly with her most intimate friends. Isabella McLaughlan (5.Janet 2, 1.John‘) b. July 29, 1835, St Peters Road; m. 1865, Alexander MacLaughlin (son of Duncan MacLaughlin and Jane Henderson). Alexander & Isabella lived at Head of Hillsborough, Lot 38. Children: i R. D. MacLaughlin b. Lot 38. Graduated a doctor of medicine 1891 and practiced at St. Peters Bay. ii Cameron MacLaughlin. According to Ann Coles’ notes, he is said to have been a member of the Winnipeg Police Force.
Robert J. McLaughlan (5.Janet 2, 1.John 1) b. abt. 1839; occupation Farmer; In. April 25, 1873, Jane Sentner, b. abt. 1845; d. April 20, 1894. Robert (1. June 12, 1887. Both bur. Marshfield Comm. Cem. Robert lived on the homestead in Marshfield and the area was known as McLaughlan’s Bridge. (See map Properties and People N7) Jane’s father was a miller at Crosby’s Mills.
