Robert Poore Haythome was born in England in 1815. Upon completion of his education, he moved to RBI. to join his brother Edward, where they acquired control of up to 10,000 acres of land. Robert P. established his farming base in Marshfield, Lot 34 (refer to chapters The Honourable Robert Poore Haythome and Properties and People S8, S9, S10). He was elected as a Liberal to the RBI. Legislative Council in 1867 and was sworn in as Premier of the Province in 1869. In 1870, he resigned as Premier but regained power in the 1872 election. In 1873, Robert P. Haythome was named to the Senate of Canada where he served until his death.

Hon. Donald Ferguson 1839 - 1909
Donald Ferguson was born at East River (now referred to as Marshfield) in 1839, the son of John Ferguson of Craggan Farm (refer to chapters F ergusons of Craggan Farm and Properties and People S4, S6). He was elected as a Conservative to the Provincial Legislature representing the Cardigan district in 1882, 1886, 1887 and 1890. Donald Ferguson was named to the Senate of Canada in 1893 where he sat until his passing in 1909.
