Roderick Munn was born in Mermaid, the son of Neil and Elizabeth Munn. He was a school teacher and a farmer, acquiring land in Wood Islands, Lot 62 in the year 1861. Roderick was elected as a Liberal to the RBI. Legislative Council in 1874 defeating Donald Ferguson of East River. He moved with his family to Marshfield in 1880, and was unsuccessful in the election of 1881. The Munn Family remained on the farm in Marshfield for the next 100 years (refer to Properties and People N4).

Hon. Cecil A. Miller 1896 - 1988

Cecil Miller was born in Marshfield, Massachusetts in 1896, the son of James and Minnie Miller originally of Marshfield, PEI (refer to chapters James and Margaret Miller and Properties and People N2). His family returned to the Island in 1900, where Cecil was educated in Charlottetown. In 1921, the Miller family settled on their property in Frenchfort. After having worked on the Railroad in Western Canada, Cecil returned to the family farm in Frenchfort. He became involved with the Liberal party both provincially and federally and was first elected as a member of the Provincial Legislature in 1966. He was successful in several elections until his retirement from politics in 1978. He held the portfolio of Minister of Fisheries, Industry and Natural Resources, and later became Speaker of the House from 1970 to 1978.
