Politicians of Marshfield and Don Wood Hon. Jamie Ballem Don Wood was born in Marshfield in 1933, the son of the late Almon and Ida Wood (refer to Properties and People S 5). After graduating from MacDonald College with a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture, he worked for several years as a farm broadcaster with CBC Radio and Television before going into business on his own and establishing himself in the Kensington area. In 1977, he was elected as a Liberal to the Canadian House of Commons representing the District of Malpeque and served as parliamentary secretary to the Minister of Regional and Economic Development, completing his term of office in 1979. Jamie Ballem was born in Marshfield in 1954, the son of Myrtle and the late Cedric Ballem (refer to Properties and People N3). He obtained his Bachelor of Business Administration from UPEI in 1976, then operated the dairy farm with his father for several years before being elected as a Progressive Conservative Member of the PEI Legislature in 1996, representing the district of -East Royalty. As a member of the Pat Binns Government, he served on several legislative committees and was appointed Minister of Health and Social Services upon re-election in the year 2000. .901.
